LEAFE Community was originally founded in 2006, but due to a lack of funding during that time, was not formally established until 2019. Sheena Cloutier and her brother, Brian Cloutier, wanted to find a way to address the lack of assistance and supportive services available to those who need it the most in our communities. Sadly, Brian Cloutier passed away unexpectedly on December 10, 2019 before reaching this goal. This is now recognized as the official established date for LEAFE Community.
LEAFE Community’s first major effort was to challenge the barriers felons face during reentry as well as address the alarming increase in the recidivism rate, specifically among women. In 2020 LEAFE Community rolled out several programs and services dedicated to assisting women who have been in the justice system find success. Through our Pre- Release Preparation and Mentorship programs, alone, we were successful in assisting over 320 women throughout 2020. These programs continue to thrive and the success rate among our clients has shown a proven foundation for success.
LEAFE Community received IRS recognition as a 501(c)(3) tax exempt public charity in March 2021, and with teams established in Southern and Northern Nevada, we are expanding our efforts to include supportive services to victims of domestic violence and their families.

Daniel Brian Cloutier
March 09,1985- December 10, 2019
Brian was one one of his sister’s biggest supporters and made many contributions to LEAFE Community prior to his passing. His ability to empathize with other and put them at ease was fueled by his own success in escaping his childhood traumas and finding a happier life. More than anything, Brian will first and foremost be remembered as a loving father who put his son above anything else. He made sure to be there every step of the way, for as long as he could. Brian was a great man, with an even greater heart and he will always be remembered as a driving force behind LEAFE Community.
